My Testimony

When I was 17 years old I gave my life to Jesus...or I thought I did.  I was overwhelmed with the gloom and doom fire and brimstone preaching of the 1980's.  I ran for the hills.  I lived my life on my own terms for decades.  Boyfriends, parties, Marriage, kids.  It all fell apart.  I found myself in an abusive marriage with 3 small children wondering how I was going to go on. It had been 25 years since I found Jesus and left.  I started praying from a distance, praying that he would come get me. I was drinking too much, I was hopeless, I felt totally trapped. I had a successful business, 3 little kids and an abusive husband who lived in a separate part of the house.  I knew this was not the life the Lord had planned for me.  I am now divorced...this is not a blog encouraging divorce...every situation is different, salvagable marriages should be saved.  The decision to divorce should be between you and the Lord.  My marriage was not based on a divine connection.  A Christ centered household was not possible.  After my divorce I partied for a couple of months and experienced a profound emptiness.  I found a book in my friends house called "The easy way to stop drinking" I read it in 2 days and stopped drinking.  I then took the kids and started attending a local church that I knew was filled with the Holy Spirit.  My only prayer then was "Lord show me who you created me to be" From that point forward I began to read my Bible and decided to live God's way for a change.  I was not going to go out there with everyone else in my age group (mid 40's) and desperately seek a new mate. I was a little lonely and scared at first but that went by quick.  About 2 years have gone by and I now have a whole new life.  Solid friends and relationships, a great home, and PEACE.  The kind of peace that only comes from the Holy Spirit.  Turns out that I left Jesus all of those years ago but He never left me.  He was waiting for me to open my heart and spirit so he could do with my life what he originally intended to do.   Now every day is a new adventure
